Sometimes life…and God, throws you a curve ball and opportunities arise that you would not have been able to imagine. To jump or not to jump when the opportunity arises? Sometimes the decisions can be very difficult to make. Do you stay in third grade where you are the main man, or do you go on to the next, bigger, scarier opportunity?
Such an opportunity arose last year September. Leonie approached Meerendal Wine Estate with an idea of starting a Chapel Gallery. The estate manager loved the idea and the ball start rolling. Suddenly it was not only about art classes or having a place to work, but also about opening an art gallery. Creating a place on the Meerendal Estate where art becomes part of the experience .
Winemaking, like art, is a process. It is cultivated by the artisanal hand; it is a nurtured talent and skill. It encompasses all one’s senses in a temporal experience. Meerendal Wine Estate is spreading its vine to include creative arts in our offering – sip on premium wine as you soak in swirls of texture and colour, or speak to the resident artists while on a studio visit. Invest in art pieces that enhance your Meerendal wine experience, or attend inspiring and upbeat art classes while enjoying the Estate’s beautiful surroundings. Presenting: Meerendal Art Gallery. A Feast of Culture.
From January 2017, Lifeart studio and gallery has officially moved to the Meerendal Wine Estate. We are situated in a 300 year old chapel with beautiful views out on the vines and the estate. The Chapel is authentic and rustic, still having to be maintained in the traditional manner. Leonie has also moved her personal art studio to the Chapel. Students will be able to see her daily progress on her own paintings. The Chapel also hosts art from some of the top and most well known South African artists like, Tay Dall, Jenny Merrit, Leonie.e.Brown, and many more.
The Chapel also gets used as a wedding venue. The wedding take place in the Chapel, which also functions as a gallery. It gives the wedding a lovely and unusual artistic, creative feel. The Chapel Gallery is unique to Cape Town and offers art, wine and great views.
Who would not want to get surrounded and married in a Chapel Gallery?
